Bodies Of Australian Skydivers Killed In Lido Air Crash
Rescuers
at dawn found the remains of the Indonesian and Australian
skydivers killed in Sunday`s airplane crash in Lido Lake in Bogor
district, West Java province. The remains of Australians Willy
Allison (30) and Priscilla Holey (35) are still being kept at the
PMI Hospital morgue here. (Antara)
Indonesia backs off
from reopening Silk Air crash inquiry
Hope that Indonesia would reopen an investigation into an air
crash which killed 104 people has receded despite new evidence
backing a suicide-murder theory and evidence the unstable captain
had major gambling debts. Captain Tsu Way Ming's Boeing 737
flipped at 35,000 ft and plummeted through the sound barrier into
a Sumatran river on December 19, 1997. American participants in
the Indonesian-led investigation blamed "intentional pilot
action." The captain, a former combat pilot, had been demoted for
two out of three instances of
erratic behaviour, including disconnecting a cockpit
voice recorder. (NZ Herald)
Brother of terror suspect Hambali to go on trial in
Indonesia
Attorneys for the younger brother of alleged Southeast Asian
terrorist mastermind Hambali said he cannot receive a fair trial
when proceedings against him open Monday due to the notoriety of
his older sibling. "We
are confident he will be freed," he told AP ahead of
Gunawan's trial later Monday. (Yahoo)

Batam hit by fuel
shortage
BATAM, Riau (JP): The usually crowed Batam streets were nearly
deserted on Monday after a severe gasoline and diesel shortage hit
the city. Earlier last week, other regions on Sumatra
suffered a similar shortage. State oil and gas company PT
Pertamina Batam spokesman Irto Petrus Gintings told The Jakarta
Post the shortage was cause by a limited supply of the fuel.
"Other cities such as Medan and Padang also have suffered from the
fuel shortage. Irto said Batam got a daily allocation of 370
kiloliters of gasoline and 400 kiloliters of diesel for some
10,000 vehicles. The city has a population of about 530,000. (fdl/nvn)

FROM THE
EDITOR:
A bad weekend: Holland
lost and I lost one of my best staff members..
On the picture right the BuGils Stadium last Saturday. On the
picture below some BuGils staff (Henny, Kattry, Endah, Rini). They
now have to do it without the help of Endjie (also known as Singga),
who suddenly disappeared. Endjie had been working in BuGils since
2002 but is going for a long holiday to Kuala Lumpur.
A number of customers have already offered their help in finding a
suitable replacement for her. What are the criteria to select a
good waitress? Being able to speak English?
Not really, most of my customers are English but even I don't
understand most of them. References? Diploma's?
Forget it. They are fake anyway... Good looking? No, they
are the first ones to get hijacked by some oil company director to
become his telephone operator. Besides that, the good looking ones
are often spoiled and lazy. A lot of kayu di depan
pintu (large size breasts)? Mmmm.. tricky. I have to be
careful here but I do see customers drink faster if Uci
(also known as 'The
Uci's) is behind the bar. If you, as a reader have any suggestion
on what you think should be an
important
quality point for a waitress, let me know. I will than select 4 or
5 candidates and publish their pictures and data in this
newsletter. A la American Idol, the reader than can choose the
winner and she will be offered a contract to work in BuGils.

Indonesian tanker deal greases old wheels
- In a bid to halt or at least slow
the gushers of graft for which state oil company
Pertamina had long been infamous, the firm two years ago
ordered two oil tankers, a move aimed at slaying the
leased-tanker cash cow. But Pertamina has reportedly reached
an agreement to sell the tankers. What happens next, ahead of
presidential elections, will make clear who is really serious
about ending corruption. (Asia Times)
